Thanks for joining me!
Interesting how this website picked such a perfect quote and picture for my first post. As stated in the description, the next series of blogs will be my 4 – 12 month journey to accomplish a simple goal that I dreamed of accomplishing which in turn led to prerequisite goals π . Before we get into that, I would like to get a few things out of the way.
- I am a Christian. So yes, the “spiritual” part of the blogs (although it will be kept relatively short) will be based on what I grew up knowing and believing. However, I am by no means saying that YOU have to do what I do. I am simply telling my story and how I got through it.
- I am not a professional trainer/nutritionist. I did some prior research to gain some basic knowledge of how food/supplements/exercise impacts the human body, but I cannot guarantee that what I will do will be for everyone. I can’t even guarantee if it will work for me, but hey… that’s something we’ll find out in the future.
- I am a college student. Currently I am pursuing my bachelors degree for Electrical Engineering (going into my second year). Thus I may not post on a day to day basis. But I will hand-write personal notes everyday to summarize what happened onΒ day __ .
Speaking of posting, it will be structured as Day 0 – Day __ (the final date is TBD) . It will include personal highlights (exercise, food, feelings) and also as a place for me to write down my thoughts about my current situation.
So now what is my goal? Why am I doing this?
Let me give you all a brief summary of what happened before I got to where I am today.
When I was little, I was diagnosed with severe asthma, to the point where I had to take steroids in order to help my body outgrow the sickness. For those who don’t know, medical use of steroids has the side effect of giving the recipient more fat than what they had before. Ever since, I have always had excess fat. However, during my middle school – early high school stage, I decided to do some basic gym training at home through some Youtube videos, aiming to increase upper body muscle mass, as well as increasing leg strength (this was due to my addiction to the game of basketball). At that point, I had gained quite a bit of muscle (at least more than before) and ever since then, I have not lost them. That being said, I never lost the fat either. Now you may be asking…. “Why are you doing this” and “Why now”.. And to be honest, it’s a couple of reasons which I will go through one by one in the next following sentences in order from most influential to least.
So currently I am about 207 lbs (give or take 2lbs) and I am 5ft 6in
My final goal weight is between 130 to at most 140
- To get the girl. Yup, the number one reason for me to lose weight and change my body type is to get the girl. Starting August 25, she will be moving away for college for awhile. This has been very hard for me, and I personally think that I am suffering from some sort of depression. But this morning I decided to turn that emotion around into motivation which I think is the biggest influence when it comes to most things in life. Now I’ve heard the ” OH she should like you the way you are” and all that BS. Although I do think that it is good for a person to love themselves and to embrace who they are, I also personally know that I love this girl and would give anything for her. She deserves the best, so I need to be at my best. She deserves better, I can be better and I will be better.
- For myself. So now we get to this part. I am tired of having to worry if whether or not a piece of clothing will make me look “fat”. I want to be able to go off to school without being worried that everyone makes an automatic judgement just because of the way I look. And finally I just want to perform better when it comes to athletic abilities. I am not saying this to brag, but currently I already move pretty well, I could only imagine how much better I would be with a more athletic body. I also got diagnosed with a fatty liver so I definitely need to lose some weight.
- My mom also bet me $500 to lose 67lbs by the end of this year. And well, money is money :)))
I will post story times on random dates talking about Me and that girl’s adventures in the past as well.
All in all, I am mainly using this platform as a place for me to vent and to have people follow along in my journey. I originally planned to just keep a personal journal for me to look back on in the future, but I figured that maybe someone will stumble across this page who really needed to hear what I had to say. So instead of only benefiting me, maybe it could help out one of you as well.
